Chief Executive Officer’s Message
Thanks for visiting us on this website. This website is one of the ways in which the management and staff of Kanye Adventist Hospital, Moshupa Adventist Health Clinic and Kanye Adventist College of Nursing wish to cascade our shared vision to maintain the sense of ownership and continue to be the “light set on a hill” illuminating Kanye, bringing healing physically and mentally in pursuit of our true goal …but to minister. This website will keep you posted, updated on the many activities taking place in our institution.
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people “ – Matt 9:35
Since its first medical missionary keen to offer services to the people of Botswana in 1921, the Seventh Day Adventist church has kept its commitment to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as exemplified in the verse above. This culminated in the opening of Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital at its present site in 1923, followed soon after by the establishment of the nursing school 1947, an outreach clinic in Moshupa in 1946 and flying mission services to as far as Ghanzi. Over the years medical missionaries have come and gone, both international and local, giving the best they know how to all in need in service to the master, often at great sacrifice.
The Government of Botswana, recognizing the good services that the Adventist church was providing through all these facilities came on board, thus the two parties realizing that together they could do more for this great nation, by each bringing its strengths. In this arrangement the Adventist church provided the institutions’ services and continued management while government provided the running costs. This arrangement would see Kanye Adventist Hospital and its subsidiaries cease to operate on a fee for service model which had hitherto provided funding for their services. Stabilized funding stream and ease of access to services saw the patient population and service bouquet expand over the years into present day institutions.
Modern day Kanye Adventist Hospital (KAH), with its 167 beds, College of Nursing with capacity for over 200 nursing students and a health clinic of 10 bed capacity in Moshupa with heavy operational support from Government of Botswana is facing different challenges from the KAH of the 1920’s. Back then the facility was smaller but totally private and fully supported by the community which felt a sense of ownership and pride about “our hospital and our school.” The level of commitment as seen in the contributions made to put up the bulk of the buildings which still stand tall today. Some of the challenges we face today include, a need to expand our sewage system, the need a major infrastructure maintenance and facelift, the need to acquire critical medical equipment which meet the modern health demands, the need to recondition our diesel generator, and need for boreholes. Please visit our Project Tsosoloso Page for more information and Donate Page on how you could assist.
Once again, this website is one of the ways in which the management and staff of KAH wish to cascade our shared vision to maintain the sense of ownership and continue to be the “light set on a hill” illuminating Kanye, bringing healing physically and mentally in pursuit of our true goal …but to minister. This website will keep you posted, updated on the many activities taking place in our institution.
